Wandering And Falls In Nursing Homes

The Huntington law offices of Duffield, Lovejoy & Boggs, Attorneys at Law, represent victims of nursing home abuse and neglect. If a loved one has been injured or killed because a nursing home or assisted living facility failed to prevent wandering or a fall, contact a nursing home wandering and fall injury attorney today.

Wandering/Elopement

Nursing homes are expected to provide care and a safe place to live for individuals with a variety of diseases and conditions. People with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia require specialized care for a variety of reasons, including the fact that these individuals are prone to wandering (or “elopement”). When this occurs, these individuals may leave the safety of the nursing home and get lost, fall, be exposed to extreme weather conditions, miss important medications and become dehydrated.

If a loved one has been injured or died because of wandering from a nursing home, talk to a lawyer as soon as possible. We can work to hold the negligent nursing home responsible for your loved one’s injuries.

Nursing Home Fall Injuries

In our younger years, a fall is usually not a serious problem. But for older individuals, a fall can lead to broken bones, back injuries, soft tissue injuries and head injuries.

A fall risk assessment should be done to determine each patient’s susceptibility to tripping or falling. If the patient is at high risk for falls, precautions should be taken to avoid serious injuries. Even if a patient is not prone to falling, nursing homes should be free from hazards that present a falling risk.

No recovery, no fee: We often represent clients on a contingency basis, meaning that you will pay no fees unless we are able to secure damages for your injuries.
